WESTERN DANCE – (Hip-Hop , Lyrical ,Popping & Locking )
Hip-hop is a dance style, usually danced to hip-hop music that has evolved from the hip-hop culture. Hip-hop includes various moves such as breaking, popping and locking and even house dance. Improvisation and personal interpretation are essential to hip-hop dancing.
CONTEMPORARY DANCE (Western & Eastern)
Contemporary dance is the exploration of the total movement potential of the body. It includes refined and experimental fusions of classical, folk and western forms. It differs from commercial or competitive dance in that it is not bound by set standards as well as defined styles such as ballet of jazz dance. Instead it seeks to express a personalized vision, often through experimentation and collaboration for the development of new, more individualized approaches to the moving body and choreographic possibilities.
The Indian film industry (bollywood) is known for its inclusion of the song and dance routine in most of its movies. From the olden days till date, there has been a massive change in the styles that are presented. The dancers in the olden days were subtle and often incorporated folk dances or western dancing. However, in recent times woman especially have been given a bold look and there is the merging of discotheque sequences and steps, that are very typical of Bollywood. The craze for this song and dance routine is such that there are special shows designed for the fans abroad so that they can get a glimpse of their favourite stars dancing to Hollywood tracks.
CINEMATIC & THEMATIC DANCE
Every Indian film has song and dance sequences starring a hero and heroine and a cast of backing dancers. Out of this culture grew cinematic dance which is hugely popular in India. Film sound tracks are dominated by South Inidna instruments and the dance style us influenced by South Indian folk and classical dances. It is very body conscious, powerful and dynamic and differs depending on the mix of music.
MODERN FUSION DANCE
Modern fusion dance is a dance style that rejects many of the strict rules of classical ballet, focusing instead on the expression of inner feelings. It was created as a rebellion against classical ballet, emphasizing creativity in choreography and performance
